What is Botox?
Botox is a form of botulinum toxin. A naturally-occurring protein which in small doses, reduces the strength of muscle contraction. According to reports, Botox is the most common cosmetic surgery worldwide.
What is Botox good for treating?
Botox is well-used to decrease dynamic wrinkles, that is wrinkles which appear during facial expression. For example:
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- (horizontal) Forehead lines
Botox is also effective in the reduction of muscle size such as for the jaw muscles (masseters) and calves. Botox can also be used to control excessive sweating, especially of the armpits and hands.
How long do the effects last?
Depending on the dose and area of treatment, the effect of Botox usually lasts four to twelve months.
